RAD-Planning designed the new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for the Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Included within this focus is a new Emergency Department exclusively for children. The new PICU includes 8 new single occupant rooms with a private toilet and shower in each, a playroom and a therapy room. For every two patient rooms, there is a nurse observation station that looks directly into the patient rooms.

Each room, and the main corridor are brightly colored and include artwork and a guest space that allows parents to spend the night if desired. All rooms are equipped with necessary power and medical gases for patient safety.

 Audio/visual controls at the central nurse station control access to the entire unit, and provide communication to all patient rooms.
